This Haptic Aesthetic Lab (A-lab), "Crafting Emerging Concepts" was developed in collaboration with the Gathering festival 2017 in Stockholm by Cristine Sundbom, Souzan Youssouf and Cheryl Akner Koler (all HAPTICA members). The purpose of this A-Lab was to help the participants to think beyond their preconceptions & biases by using fly fishing crafts as a creative conversation tool. Focus was moved from the individuals own opinion, towards explorations in pairs that support creative thinking.
“Doing this (the lab) embodied and visualized both her (Lucy McRae) talk and our discussion. I will never forget it. It’s like a physical experience.” Quote by a A-Lab participant
We hosted two Aesthetic Labs using colourful haptic materials from fly-fishing tying crafts, to creatively explore thematic questions.
The first A-Lab explores Lucy McRae’s keynote presenattion which straddled the worlds of Fashion, Technology and the Body (video below).
The second A-Lab reflects on dialogue between Salome Asega and Daniel Rourke that dwelled on Hacktivism, Disruption and Art in contemporary digital culture.
This Aesthetic Lab was originally developed by Cristine Sundbom and Cheryl Akner Koler through the VINNOVA project WISPER, 2016 drive from Konstfack with support from the HAPTICA project.
